Weight loss: Easy as Riding a Bike

How many people do you know that have given up on weight loss completely, arguing that they are too fat, too old, too lazy or it is simply too late for them?  Don’t get discouraged! A recent study proved that riding your bike for as little as 5 minutes a day can reduce weight gain, especially in women who are older and overweight.

After following women between the ages of 25-42 for 16 years, on average they gained about 20.5 pounds. Women who started biking for just 5 minutes a day gained 1.5 fewer pounds than the rest of the study.

“Bicycling in the answer to weight control.” said Anne Lusk, PhD, lead author of the study.

Biking is one of the easiest forms of exercise to incorporate into your everyday life. Start out with just 5 minutes and increase the time for better results. It’s important to get your body moving, even if it’s just a little bit.

So dust off your bike, lose some weight, and don’t forget to wear a helmet.
