Micronutrient Testing

Are you nutrient deficient? Is your multivitamin working? Test to see if your vitamin levels are the best they can be!

"Although the clinical syndromes of vitamin deficiencies are unusual in Western societies, suboptimal vitamin status is not. Because suboptimal vitamin status is associated with many chronic diseases including cardiovascular diseases, cancer and osteoporosis, it is important for physicians to identify patients with poor nutrition or other reasons for increased vitamin needs"

SpectraCell Laboratory's
patented Comprehensive Nutritional Panel offers a unique means to scientifically assess the intracellular requirements of micronutrients that play an important role in overall health and wellness. The micronutrient tests measures how micronutrients are actually functioning within your white blood cells as opposed to measuring levels in the red blood cells, which change drastically with every meal. This blood test measure the biochemical function of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants patented process resulted from 18 years of research at the University of Texas.

  • Vitamin D is produced in the skin via the UVb rays in sunlight. What is the most important to note is the amount of vitamin D that the body naturally produces with sunlight. Why is the daily recommended dose of vitamin D is 400 units when your body will make 10,000 units of D with full exposure in only 30 minutes.  Granted this amount is achieved when the sun is at it's highest point in the sky, you have to wonder what other roles this important nutrient plays in the body.

For decades, we only understood only one function of vitamin D, that it's necessary for calcium absorption. During the past few years, numerous studies have shown the correlation of vitamin levels with so many other functions in the body, including immune regulation, mineral absorption, mood regulation and much more. Low Vitamin D is thought to have implications in cancer, diabetes, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis and many other debilitating conditions.
  • Vitamin C has many roles in the body including antioxidant activity and collagen synthesis. "Oxidation" or free radical damage (from pollution, stress, smoking, internal processes etc) has long been established as the process that causes "aging" and can cause DNA damage.  Vitamin C protects the skin from damaging effects of the sun and is also vital for collagen synthesis, without which the skin will wrinkle, form sunspots and sag as we age.

Though getting sufficient vitamin C in our diets is crucial, it is noted only a minuscule amount of ingested vitamin C gets to the skin. Studies have shown that topically applying vitamin C to the skin increases the density of the dermis, improves collagen synthesis and protects free radical damage.

Look for creams with sea buckthorn, rose hips or red tea for a natural vitamin C boost.

Enjoy flowers for their beautiful colors, their soothing scents, and their health benefits. Make sure all flowers come from respectable, organic farms. Otherwise, they are not safe to eat. If you can, grow your own! Adding it to soups, salad or using them in sauces, desserts will not only give you some eye candy but will also add a punch of flavor, aroma and beneficial nutrients!
